Hawaii has established a unique form of non-marital relationship called a “beneficial relationship.” A beneficial relationship under Hawaiian law is similar to a registered domestic partnership in other states. However, while the Tomorrow estate planning documents can be used by registered domestic partners in states other than Hawaii, we are still in the process of updating our documents to address the needs of partners in a Hawaiian beneficial relationship. If you and your partner are in a Hawaiian beneficial relationship and you need to create estate documents now, we suggest that you consult with a qualified local estate planning attorney.
