Trustees must contact any financial institution that is holding the individual's assets. The trustee will need to show the Trust document or Trust Certificate to demonstrate that they are now in charge of the Trust. In addition, if assets or accounts weren't transferred into the Trust during life (or if a Transfer-on-Death deed or form wasn't filed for the asset), then the executor will first need to officially transfer the assets to the Trust before the trustee can gain access and control over them.
